Tanzania’s education system
Tanzania’s education system is divided into preschool, primary, secondary and tertiary education (United Republic of Tanzania-URT, 2014).
However, primary education is only compulsory from preschool to junior high school.
Tanzania’s education system includes two years of preschool education, seven years of primary school, four years of general secondary education, two years of extended secondary education and three or more years of tertiary education. It has been reduced from seven to six years.
In addition, pre-school education will be a one-year program compulsory for five-year-olds.
In fact, three- to four-year-olds can enroll when they are “ready” to attend school.
Therefore, the structure of the education system can be described as: 1+-6-4-2-3+
